Antalya was a last minute addition to our Turkey plans, and WOW, are we happy we went! It ended up being one of our favourite stops on our trip! Read on to discover all the things we loved about this beautiful coastal city!
The Old City
Kaleici is the Old Roman area of Antalya and there is tons to see and do at every corner! Antalya is known for its many beaches and coastal beach resorts but I would highly recommend staying in the old city as it offers culture as well as easy access to many of the areas beautiful beaches.
Endless international as well as local restaurants, art installations, tourist shops, beautiful public parks, tattoo and art shops as well as the markets, clock tower and city Mosque are just some of the sites to see in the Old City…
Not to forget the amazing port-a beautiful place for evening strolls or to catch a boat ride.
This fully pebble beach has the most amazing views of the mountains, it is an easy taxi ride from the old city or a 45 minute trek by foot (I would recommend going by foot as you get to take in the magnificent views on the way there!)
For a “private beach” experience Mermerli is so amazing-one of my favourite beaches in the world for sure. Get there early to grab one of the better spots, it is 15 turkish Lira per person with a great menu serviced by Mermerli restaurant and scuba and other water sport rentals available.
The Art Culture
We absolutely loved walking around Antalya and seeing the great art culture around every corner, from street artists to murals to great art installations, it is something that makes this city stand out!
