I wanted to write a really quick and informal review of the new Qatar Airways Q Suite which is now available on select flights between Montreal and Doha (as well as a whole host of other routes) but if you know me, then you know Montreal-Doha is my jam, I take it a few times a year, so its really amazing to have this option. I know I have been really behind in blog posts lately-I have quite a few blog requests to get up so hopefully I can do that! As many of you know this blog is just my side hustle (and passion) and my REAL work has really been crazy lately so hopefully when Matteo is off school and we have our month in Europe I will be able to find more time to write…anyways…on to the review!
Check in Process
So Qatar Airways home hub is of course Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar and I have always loved loved loved this airport. If La Guardia is the epitome of what an airport SHOULD NOT be than Hamad International is its counter. Clean, gorgeous, efficient-the exclusive check in area for first and business class flights takes it one step further. No wait time, dedicated agents to get you checked in and exclusive lounge areas with comfy leather couches-before you even go through security.
From there enjoy your first class immigration area and security check-no wait, no stress-basically it was me and another guy going through security at the same time-HUGE difference from the line up in the public area. Qatar Airways really makes you feel beyond special at every step.
I love the configuration of the Qsuites, the window hubs rotate between front facing and backfacing seats/suites and I had to take the oppurtunity to grab one of the rear facing ones. I loved the switch up and the views on the Pearl flying out of Doha was such a great experience!
Your window suite is directly on its own, you have direct access to the aisle and the windows. The middle Qsuites are pretty cool too- when traveling with family or a partner, they open up so you can connect your reclining chair/beds and sleep next to each other-something I definitely need to try!
Amenities are of course top-comfy pj sets, slippers and an amenity case with energizing face mist, lotion, toothbrush and all the essentials. In flight blankets are plush purple and incredibly cozy as well as high end pillows- extremely comfortable. Huge TV screen, high end wifi-all the other essentials here too.
Your flight attendant (more like personal concierge) really works beyond to make your flight comfortable and tailer made to you (more on that later with the food) from the welcome cocktail to anything you need throughout the flight, the Qatar Airways reputation for amazing service is upheld with the Qsuite service.
The Qsuite is unique in that you are offered a menu that you are encouraged to tailer curate to your flight. When I got on my 8:30 am flight I had not slept at all the night before so I told my concierge/flight attendant that I wanted to sleep for 5 hours and then to have my breakfast followed by a custom curated lunch later in the flight. No problem at all-your wish is their command. Yogurt parfait, french toast, tea and juice. Later a gorgeous lentil soup and Arabic mezze with hummus, baba ganoush and tabouleh love loved all the food on this flight.
Qatar Airways QSuite vs Air Canada Signature Class
As far as making a comparison, the obvious competitor is the Air Canada Signature class product.
I really loved the Air Canada Signature Suite (you can check out my review for that HERE) and the food was beyond, but as far as I am concerned you can’t beat Qatar Airway’s hospitality-this goes for both economy class and the Qsuites. Whether it is in the training or the hiring, Qatar Airways staff are just A+ in meeting any need you have in a friendly and accommodating way. Just for that reason the Qsuite has to come out on top.
Hope you guys enjoyed this little review, I want to get up some blog posts up on packing tips as well as planning a Europe trip with kids-lets hope I can get to that!
